Operational research

Operational Research is one of the main courses for the majors Management Science, Information Management and Information System, Information and Computing Science, and Project Management, etc, and was approved as the state level excellent course in 2006. The main contents of the course include object of operational research model and its main application scope, assumed condition for establishing model, structure of the model and its calculation method, example of operational research model applied in economic management, modeling and practice on model solving, etc. The models of the course include linear programming model, integer programming model, dynamic programming model, game theoretic model, network model, memory model, decision analytic model, stochastic service system model, multi-objective decision-making model, and prediction model, etc. Through studying this course, students shall learn and master the operational research models and methods commonly used in actual management problem solving, learn to analyze and solve problems by using the thoughts and methods of operational research model, so as to improve working ability and working efficiency. Also student shall learn the frontier development and development trend of operational research, so as to stimulate students' innovation enthusiasm and innovation thought.

Through several years teaching reform and practice, the Operational Research course forms double subjects, interactive, course works teaching mode being actuated by cases; and creates a three-dimension teaching platform combining classroom theory teaching, classroom experimental teaching, extracurricular practical management problem guided course works, professor and doctor guided undergraduates' academic research team activities, and practice base teaching, etc. The Operational Research for the major management science adopts bilingual teaching. By fully using modernized teaching approaches, a course teaching website with abundant contents was developed to aid teaching.

 

Database System and Application

Database System and Application is one of the professional main courses for the major Information Management and Information System, and was approved as the state level excellent course in 2007. The course includes two parts-- Principles of Database System and Modern Database Technology; among which, the Principles of Database System is mainly about basic knowledge, principles and skills, including introduction to database system,  relational database, database design, and database management, etc; the Modern Database Technology is mainly about Oracle database architecture, Oracle database management technology, software development architecture, MVC design mode, myEclipse development environment and database programming technology, etc, and using myEclipse development tool to develop a B/S structure database application system based on MVC mode.

Through the past 20 years teaching reform and practice, the Database System and Application course forms double subjects, interactive, course works teaching mode being actuated by projects, and several teaching methods combined teaching mode. The teaching methods include elicitation method, example leading in "screw type", discussion method, participatory method, debate method, and inquiry method. etc; and creates a three-dimension teaching platform combining classroom theory teaching, classroom experimental teaching, extracurricular project guided course works, professor and doctor guided undergraduates' academic research team activities, and practice base teaching, etc. By fully using modernized teaching approaches, a course teaching website with abundant contents was developed to aid teaching. The course plays an important role on improving students' entrepreneurship and cultivating students' autonomous learning ability, team work spirit, and problem analyzing and solving abilities by comprehensively using learned knowledge, and obtains remarkable achievements.

 

Information System Analysis and Design

Information System Analysis and Design is one of the professional main courses for the major Information Management and Information System, and was approved as the state level excellent course in 2008. Organically integrating the management theory and information technology, and engineering idea and systematic thinking, the course devotes to cultivate students' abilities of solving practical problems in information system planning, analyzing, designing, implementing, and operation maintenance by using the methods, tools and technologies of system analysis and design.

Through continuously innovating teaching mode, the course has gradually formed the mode of "teaching, simulation, and practice integrated", and formed a three dimensional teaching platform combining classroom teaching, classroom experiment, project guided course works, undergraduate's academic research team activities, and practice base teaching, etc. Through long-term practice, it constructs and implements "double subjects, three dimension, and interactive type" teaching architecture; uses teaching methodologies of "elicitation method, discussion method, participatory method, case method, and defense method" in teaching; explores role play simulation teaching methodology that faces to teams in simulation; and carries out double subjects interactive teaching methodology that is driven by course works in practice. The information system series curricula constructed centering on this course has formed the stable and featured teaching team. In 2010, the teaching team for information system series curricula won the award of the state level teaching team.

 

Decision Making Theory and Method

Decision Making Theory and Method is one of the professional main courses for the majors Management Science, and Information Management and Information System, and was approved as the state level excellent course in 2009. Through studying this course, it aims at cultivating "management talents with the knowledge of modern decision making technology". The course includes two parts: decision making model and methods, and simulation models and methods, which realize the mutual integration of modern decision making theory and simulation technology. Through studying this course, students can  master the basic theory and method of decision making analysis, and master the application of simulation technology in decision making analysis; student can be able to flexibly use the knowledge to establish related decision making model and simulation model and solve them; students can have the  abilities of finding problems from practice, posing the problems, analyzing the problems and solving the problems, and have the team work spirit, and the innovation ability and comprehensive quality. Students can become "management talents with the knowledge of modern decision making technology".

   Through nearly 20 years teaching reform and practice, the course Decision Making Theory and Method continuously develops, and gradually forms the "QTMP" teaching design concept, i.e. "Question guided, Theory expatiated, Model teaching, and Practice enhanced". Adopting the "double subjects interactive type" first class teaching implementation strategy and method, i.e. "practical using incurring problems, problems leading theory expatiation, theory directing model teaching, model used in project implementation", and the "double subjects interactive type" second class teaching implementation strategy and method, i.e. "project implementation extracting problems, problems solving constructing models, models using upgrading theories, and theory guiding practical activities", it effectively realizes interaction of the two classes, and improves students' abilities and quality of solving practical problems by comprehensively using the decision making theory, model methods and simulation technologies learned from the course.
