Our students win the Grand Prize in the 2022 USACM competition

Recently, the results of the 2022 MCM competition were announced, and the team consisting of three students, namely Zong Mengjie from the School of Information Management, Yang Zini from the School of Finance and Zhang Xiaoya from the School of Economics, won the Outstanding winner, which is the first Outstanding winner of Jiangxi University in this competition and fills the gap between the Outstanding winner of the competition in our province and our university. It is reported that a total of 15,105 teams from around the world participated in this year's competition, with more than 45,000 participants, and a total of 23 Grand Prizes were awarded, making the competition extremely competitive, with a winning rate of only 0.152%. In addition, our school won three first prizes (Meritorious Winner), which is the best result for our school in terms of the number of prizes won and the level of prizes won.

Organised by the Mathematical Consortium of America, the MCM is the highest international mathematical modelling competition and is the most influential mathematical modelling competition in the world. The competition requires a team of three students to work on a given topic for four days, from modelling, solving, validating to writing an English paper, demonstrating the participants' comprehensive ability to analyse and solve practical problems and their teamwork. Our Grand Prize winning team's topic was "Asset Trading Strategy Development", in which they used an ARIMA-LSTM model to forecast asset trading prices and improved their trading strategy model through dynamic programming and genetic algorithm building to expand asset returns. A total of 10,043 teams from around the world chose this topic, and 10 teams were awarded the Grand Prize, which is less than one in a thousand.

        The School of Information Management is responsible for the organisation and training of mathematical modelling competitions at all levels in the University. The School of Information Management has established a team of professional instructors based on its professional strengths, offered relevant training courses, and given full play to the role of competition as a guide to educate people, and has won numerous achievements in the National Student Mathematical Modelling Competition and the American Student Mathematical Modelling Competition. In the future, the university will continue to deepen the reform of curriculum and professional teaching, strengthen discipline construction and discipline integration, implement the "competition to promote teaching, competition to promote learning, competition to promote reform, competition to promote construction", and help students grow and become successful.
